Pronouns – 1

This lesson will help you understand four different types of pronouns in English: object pronouns, subject pronouns, possessive adjectives, and possessive pronouns. Each type of pronoun helps us talk about people or things without repeating names or nouns. Let’s look at how they are used:

Object Pronouns: These are used after a verb or preposition. For example, “Look at me.” (not “Look at I“). Common object pronouns are: me, you, him, her, it, us, them.

Subject Pronouns: These are used to show who is doing the action in a sentence. For example, “I have a toy.” (not “Me have a toy“). Common subject pronouns are: I, you, he, she, it, we, they.

Possessive Adjectives: These are used to show that something belongs to someone. For example, “It’s my toy.” (not “It’s mine toy“). Common possessive adjectives are: my, your, his, her, its, our, their.

Possessive Pronouns: These are used to show ownership, without using a noun afterwards. For example, “The toy is mine.” (not “The toy is my“). Common possessive pronouns are: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs.
